Up until this week, as y’all may or may not recall, I had an author site at angelahighland.info, hosted on WordPress.com.

That site has now been taken down, and the domain angelahighland.info as of today now redirects here.

The hosting plan I’d been paying for at WordPress.com just expired. And I have been very, very disinclined to renew it. If you don’t follow the WordPress community, you may or may not be aware that WordPress co-founder and CEO of Automattic, has been extremely problematic over the last several months. Because of this, I am no longer interested in giving him my money.

If you want to know more about that particular brouhaha, just do a web search for “WP Engine Matt Mullenweg”, and you’ll find a bunch of articles about it.

Me, I’m done enough with that kind of toxicity that I almost wanted to bail on using WordPress entirely, even self-hosted. But we have a bunch of sites on WordPress at the Murkworks, and porting them over to something else would be a huge PITA I don’t want to try to deal with right now. So for now, the solution I’ve settled on is, just continue with the self-hosting.
